Embedded Notes: Diovlea: In 1BC Dio technology was roughly equivalent to earth’s in the 1990s (satellite communications, nuclear power, information technology, selenar travel, etc.). Over the next 20 years, with the help of the Codalsponin transmission, tech advanced 100 years (Metafactories, advanced nanomaterials, portable global communications, graphene computing/power/displays, etc.) Mrs. Larinda Tixsan-Orvae: Virtuoso at the nelaldi, a pianolike instrument invented in 579 BC Mother to Alina and Hannon Lost her father to the first invasion; went into hiding with the rest of the Kayoul family after the news of Zynech’s invasion spread to their home near Xashiro. Here are a few renders of Diovela, the fourth planet in the Chegla system and home to Sandrin Orvae and Alina Kayoul. These images were rendered in Cinema4d, which I’ve been working (with mounting success) to replace completely with Blender3d. One thing I still haven’t mastered is the art of atmospheric haze. Anyway, I like the way they turned out. I’m getting close to reaching the same level with Blender.
Major Gavam Hest of the Peoples’ Stellar Army of Norva was sent into Diovela’s distant past in order to divert possible repercussions of Commander Orvae’s attempt to travel back in time and prepare Diovela for Zynech’s devastating invasions. I used Daz Studio 3 and Photoshop CS4 with a Wacom tablet.
A rough portrait of Sandrin wearing his Guard Force charlies. I think the uniform is going to change quite a bit over time, but the idea is for it to be comparable to something you’d see in a first-world military today. Notice on his chest where he wears a QR code patch. There’s a written Desophynaelic script, of course, but military personnel use a digitally coded language, which is made of snippets of their equivalent to a QR code. Here’s the patch– scan it on your phone to find out what it says!
Kind of a low-action vanilla trailer for Last Age, which was more of an After Effects experiment. It’s in 480p, so make sure to bump up the quality for a slightly less-sucky viewing experience…
Well, it took over a day and a half to render, and you could’ve fried an egg on my tower, but it eventually got done, and I must say: I’m impressed! Blender 2.5 is an extremely versatile modeling/texturing/rendering package, and I’m looking forward to finding out what else it can do.
