A new design I slapped together this morning. It’s based on the “ring shuttle” I did several months back, but much more refined– it’s a one-piece model, sculpted from a simple torus. It’s also one of the first models I’ve done that’s 100% manifold right from the start. I’m hoping it will pass the Shapeways tests so that I can make this my first real-life 3d model. Love how it turned out– looks very dangerous, which a good Norvan ship should. Looooove Blender!
Here are a few rough drafts of one of the minor green sector worlds, Planet Donshu (all textured and rendered in Blender). A class P ice world, Donshu is home to an early industrial native population (Donshunans) and is used by Norva as a mining outpost and shipyard. The Donshunans have been occupied and enslaved by the Norvans for a century, but remain loyal to the nearly-extinct Coludabans, who had been their caretakers until their own fall. I’ve also thrown in an early concept sculpt of a Donshunan for good measure (done in Sculptris and Blender) .
Major Gavam Hest of the Peoples’ Stellar Army of Norva was sent into Diovela’s distant past in order to divert possible repercussions of Commander Orvae’s attempt to travel back in time and prepare Diovela for Zynech’s devastating invasions. I used Daz Studio 3 and Photoshop CS4 with a Wacom tablet.
